Fashion as Art: Christian Louboutin Campaign

As you may have already guessed, I love when fashion editorials and clothes get turned into art. So...this campaign pretty much made me very happy! I love it, and I think its SO creative. Such a fresh perspective, a nice change of pace in fashion magazines riddled with adds of long legged blondes.

Fashion Week: Versace Goes Figure-Skater-esque

It may have been after watching the figure skating Sochi finals last night(Adelina Sotnikova was absolutely amazing) and admiring all the beautiful figure skating dresses, but some of the Versace Fall/Winter 2014 collection looks a lot like what a figure skater would wear, and I've been seeing dresses similar elsewhere on the runways. Are short glittery mini dresses with sequins and frills back?

Trendspotting: Floral Nails

Nasty Gal x ncLA
Bland nails are out, dainty floral nails are in! If you're into nail art this is a good time to flaunt it. With Spring around the corner comes a ton of new floral nail art, and this time around it looks classy, not Gaudy.

Pink Velvet and Studded Leather

Valentine's calls for hearts and pink and ruffles and frills. Too much! Today, post-Valentine's day, I keep a hint of the Valentine's day frill with a pink velvet dress, but add some much needed edge to the outfit by layering on a studded black leather jacket and keeping the entire rest of the outfit black. Instead of my usual straightened hair, I instead went au natural and brushed through my curls to create the poufed look many of the fashion week runways are sporting.

Trendspotting: Eccentric Slip-ons

Cut-outs: Jeffrey Campbell
Out go the supergas and converse, in go the van-shaped slip-ons. Their allure? They can be stylish. From shimmer to cut-outs to leather, these shoes have it going on. They'll make an outfit of skinny jeans and a white tee shirt look much more complete than the prior could ever do.

Fashion Week: Androginous Fashion is Making a Comeback

Wayne

In virtually every collection during fashion week's Fall 2014 runways, along with an elegant gown came a shapeless sweater, trench, or polo.

While I'm not the biggest fan of solely shapeless, colorless outfits, I do think that combining a long masculine trench coat with a dress, an over-sized shapeless sweater with skinny jeans and heels, and sporting a bold brow and going bare on the lipstick can give one's outfits some edge.

Eye Candy: Alice + Olivia Fall/Winter Collection

So I've been posting a flux of fashion editorials and photography lately. And while I do love a good editorial, I don't want to limit my blog to just that. So, soon I'll start posting some of my more carefully put together outfits. But, in the meantime, here are a few more pretty editorials to make your day a little less bland.

I love the background. Nature's the purest form of beauty, and it's been a little neglected from the fashion industry lately.

One aspect of the editorial I'm unhappy about: The sardonic use of fur coats in the midst of a forest setting(images which I decided not to include). Even if they're faux, it's not quite the image I think coincides with a forest, albeit the background has an eery, brooding tinge to it with the fog, the dark foliage, and the prickly rose bushes.
