Eye Candy: Over the Top

 As Elle Mexico accurately puts it, this photoshoot featuring Viktoriya Sasonkina was "Over the Top," but in the best way possible. It's fashion art. And, after all, isn't fashion simply art, with the body as the canvas?

Trendspotting: Golden Pumps

Upon walking onto the red carpet, the first thing one sees are your shoes. Gracefully, one leg slides out of the limousine. Next the other. And then your beautifully adorned body follows.

Although the new black-tie event 'it' shoe isn't Cinderella's glass slipper, it's close: Metallic gold pumps. They go with virtually any dress, and are an emblem of classiness.

Upon looking at the Spring 2014 collections, I noticed that metallic shoes were a huge pattern. Particularly, golden pumps kept showing up. Here are a few of the ones I found:

Eye Candy: Denim on Denim

The denim on denim look is somewhat controversial in the fashion world. Some love it's rugged edginess, some hate it, believing it's in bad taste. I, personally, adore it. I'm guilty of occasionally adorning myself with skinny jeans with a chambray denim top, paired with black boots and my sleek black quilted Chanel purse.

I was so excited to find that denim on denim is trending now, featured already as a theme in two popular fashion magazines: Marie Claire featuring Daniela Braga and Elle France featuring Erin Heatherton, respectively.

Trendspotting: Fluffy Sweaters

 Winter is here and with it, a whole new set of trends. Some are coming back from a few years ago, some are finding inspiration from previous decades, and others are new and fresh. It seems like the the world is seeing a flashback from the 90's in the latest runways, and the fashion world is starting to catch on.

One of these new styles is the fuzzy sweater. Seemingly cutesy, it can be dressed in a variety of ways. Pair it with a white collar and it'll instantly become preppy, or wear one with black skinnies and docs and it can instantly become edgy.

May Inspiration: Print Overload

 What better way to await the summer than with bright, crazy prints! Surrounded by colors, wearing colors, adorned in powder of bright colors. Celebrate spring, await the summer, because honey, this is going to be a bright one!

Movie Rave: Beautiful Creatures

I know, I know. This is a fashion blog. But, seeing as I barely have time for it, as I have a lot of school work this past year, I figured that I need a study break and why not write about a great movie that I happened to watch today.

And, let me tell you, the costume designer for Beautiful Creatures is amazing. So this isn't completely 'style unrelated'.

Anyway, I read the book quite a while ago and to be honest, I didn't like it much. I didn't even bother to read the sequel. But when a friend wanted to watch Beautiful Creatures with me, I thought, why not?  And let me tell you, I loved it!

So go watch it. You'll love it.

My Favorite Flatforms

Flatforms are my new obsession. They're the shoe I learned to love. At first sight, I thought they were absolutely atrocious, a horrible fashion experiment gone wrong. 

But as the year progressed and I saw them more and more, they sort of grew on me. 

What's the appeal? A height boost without the pain of a dreadfully escalated arch is a dream come true! They still elongate the legs, they make a huge statement, and they can be found in the quirkiest of patterns!

Here are some of my favorite finds:

They may be a little bit crazy...all right, extremely crazy! And I'm not going to buy them. But I just think that they are so fun! I'm imagining them with a black leather skater skirt, a sheer white crop top, a black bandeau, and some chunky velvet-finish gold or silver jewelry. J'adore!

Nasty Gal

I love the denim-on-denim look, so wearing a jean chambray shirt with leggings plus these babies and I am set to go! Just add some clubmaster raybans and your model-off-duty outfit is complete.
