Trendspotting: The Kimono

It's February! And with February comes rain. And with the clouds and thunder, and the constant darkness, comes a desire for the sun, the heat, flowers, rainbows, and fairies. Well, not really. But sorta.

Say hello to the Kimono. A perfect accessory, the stylish shawl for mildly chilly nights when a nice zephyr blows your way. Stylish and bringing with them a touch of Asian fusion, Kimonos are the perfect touch to any free-spirit flowy spring outfit.

Here are a few of my favorites:
Kimono from Nasty Gal
I am obsessed in particular with the white Kimono. Its sheer, dainty beauty contains an undertone of innocence in it.
Kimono from Topshop
A dark Kimono is a bit more formal. It's ideal for a night out on town, the perfect cover up to an LBD.

Asos
And of course, with all the outdoor music festivals that the blissful spring weather brings about, is the floral Kimono. It's the perfect blend of 'boho' and 'flower child' to those that want to impersonate the stereotypical hipster at music festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Electric Daisy.

I can't quite peg myself as a free spirit but I wouldn't mind wearing the carefree airy Kimono as it takes center stage as a major trend in Spring 2014.
